Who is Alison Weir?

Alison Weir is a British author and public historian, and one of the most dependable guides available to the lives of English royal women and their families. Her method is the biography that fully inhabits its historical setting, and she has applied it to Eleanor of Aquitaine, Isabella of France, Katherine Swynford, Elizabeth of York and the Princes in the Tower, alongside broader histories of the Wars of the Roses, England’s medieval queens and royal weddings.

Her first book, Britain’s Royal Families, published in 1989, was a genealogical overview of the British royal line, and the decades since have added a parallel career in historical fiction, including novels on English queens and on each of Henry VIII’s wives.
