Who is Andrew Flintoff?

Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, born in 1977, is an English television and radio presenter and former international cricketer – and, for a generation of British sports fans, simply the face of the 2005 Ashes, in which he was England’s Man of the Series. A genuine all-rounder – fast bowler, middle-order batsman, slip fielder – he was consistently rated by the ICC among the world’s leading all-rounders in both Test and one-day cricket, and served England as captain and vice-captain before retiring from Tests after the 2009 Ashes.

What followed was one of the more varied second acts in British sport: a professional boxing win on points in 2012, a Twenty20 comeback with Lancashire and then Brisbane Heat, victory in the first Australian series of I’m a Celebrity, a regular berth on A League of Their Own, and the Top Gear presenting job from 2019 until the injuries he suffered in a filming accident in late 2022.
