Charlie Higson, born in 1958, is an English actor, comedian, author and former singer – one of those figures who has succeeded in nearly every corner of British entertainment, writing and producing for television along the way.
As an author he has shown striking range. He wrote the first five novels in the Young Bond series and created The Enemy, a post-apocalyptic book series for young adults – two very different registers, handled with the ease of a man who has never accepted that you are supposed to pick one job and stick to it. It is precisely that versatility, performer’s instincts joined to a writer’s discipline, that makes his books so readable.
