Daniel Rigby, born in 1982, is an English actor and comedian. His breakthrough came with the 2011 BBC television film Eric and Ernie, in which he played Eric Morecambe – a role that would intimidate any performer, given Morecambe’s place in British affections, and one that won Rigby a BAFTA TV Award.
That prize tells you the essentials: a performer with genuine comic instincts and the discipline to inhabit someone else’s rhythms, Morecambe’s timing being about as exacting a test as British comedy can set. It is that combination which makes his move into audio storytelling worth paying attention to.
