Who is David Grann?

David Grann, born in 1967, is an American journalist and a staff writer for The New Yorker, and one of the most admired practitioners of narrative nonfiction at work today. A profile in Slate described him as a workhorse reporter whose readers develop a devotion that can border on the obsessive – a neat symmetry, given how often obsession turns out to be his subject.

His first book, The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon, appeared in 2009, debuted at No. 4 on The New York Times bestseller list and later climbed to No. 1.
