Who is Kate Snell?

Kate Snell is a British author and filmmaker who came up through serious journalism: a former reporter for the BBC’s Woman’s Hour, a producer on the current affairs programme Panorama, and series producer of the corporation’s foreign affairs strand Correspondent. That documentary discipline runs through everything she has written since.

Her book Diana: Her Last Love, published in 2000 after her research into the life of Princess Diana, became the basis for the 2013 film Diana. It was followed by Deceived in 2007, her account of the conman Robert Freegard, who posed as a spy for ten years – a story she had already told on screen in the award-winning feature-length documentary The Spy Who Stole My Life, directed by Snell and produced through her own company, Creative Touch Films.
