Paul Rosolie is an American conservationist and author, and with him the order of those two words matters: the conservation came first. He is the founder of Junglekeepers, a nonprofit working to protect rainforest in Peru’s Madre de Dios region, and it is that work on the ground in the Amazon that made his name.
The writing has grown directly out of the work. His 2014 memoir Mother of God recounted his early years in the rainforest of southeastern Peru, and his most recent book, Junglekeeper, published in 2026, picks up the thread, following his journey building the organisation itself. He is that comparatively rare thing in nature writing: an author whose subject is lived rather than researched.
