Few series names tell you as much as Dumb Luck and Dead Heroes. Add a novel titled The Worst Admiral in the Star Cluster and the register becomes unmistakable: military science fiction played for comedy, with incompetence as the engine and survival as the running gag.
Skyler Ramirez works a well-loved corner of the genre. Space opera has always had room for the unlikely officer promoted far past their ability, and the form supplies both the fleet-scale set pieces and the low farce of a chain of command that should never have been assembled. Eleven hours is a good length for it, long enough to build a war, short enough to keep the joke sharp.
