Who is Tess Lake?

Cosy crime works best somewhere small enough to know by heart, and the Torrent Witches Cozy Mysteries take that principle and add magic on top of it. Tess Lake writes the sort of mystery in which the danger is real but the world remains fundamentally kind.

Our catalogue files the series under crime and thriller alongside general fiction, which rather undersells the tone. This is not grit. It is the tradition of the amateur sleuth in a close community, with a supernatural inheritance complicating matters and, as a rule, a good deal of humour holding everything together.

What we carry is the collected edition, Torrent Witches Cozy Mysteries Complete Box Set: Books 1-10, running to sixty-five hours and thirty-one minutes with Natalie Duke narrating throughout. A single voice across a run of that size is a genuine asset in cosy mystery, where much of the pleasure lies in familiarity.

It is a scheduled arrival rather than a title you can begin tonight, and its listener scores remain too few to mean a great deal. If you want a series to disappear into for a whole season, this is the shape of it. Keep an eye on the audiobook below.
