Tom Fletcher (born 17 July 1985) is an English musician, composer, author and vlogger, best known as the founder of the pop rock band McFly, where he sings lead vocals and plays rhythm guitar. Across a twenty-year career as a professional songwriter he has written 10 UK number one singles and 21 top-ten hits, supplying songs not only for his own band but for One Direction, Busted, the Vamps and 5 Seconds of Summer.
That would be a full career by most measures, but Fletcher has added a second act as an author – and, on the evidence of a title like The Christmasaurus, one aimed squarely at delighting children. The songwriting matters here: pop hooks and children’s storytelling call on the same gifts of rhythm, economy and knowing exactly what sticks in the head.
