Who is Victoria Pile?

Victoria Pile, also credited as Vicky Pile, is a British comedy writer, director and producer, and one of the significant behind-the-camera forces in modern British comedy. She is most noted as the creator of two Channel 4 programmes: the sketch show Smack the Pony and the sitcom Green Wing.

Creators of her kind rarely become household names; comedy fame tends to gather around the performers. But the shows carry her signature, and anyone who has laughed at either has been enjoying Victoria Pile’s work, whether they knew it or not. On this site, at least, credit lands where it is due.
