Zogarth is the byline of a writer who was, not very long ago, an ordinary office employee with a story he had no intention of publishing. He began posting The Primal Hunter on the web fiction site Royal Road in 2020, largely to relieve the tedium of the day job, and readers found it quickly. Within a couple of months the Patreon page supporting the serial was earning enough for him to resign and write full time, a trajectory that has since become a reference point for the whole progression fantasy scene.
His territory is apocalyptic LitRPG: Earth is swallowed into a multiverse run on levels, classes, professions and skills, and character sheets matter quite as much as courage. Jake, his protagonist, is the colleague nobody noticed, and the one who turns out to be built for a world that rewards patience, marksmanship and a taste for hunting alone.
What keeps the audience is rhythm. Zogarth writes serially and steadily, closing one loop as he opens the next, and that discipline carried the story from a free web serial into a long publishing run with Aethon Books, in print and in audio.
