Who is Andrew Ross Sorkin?

Andrew Ross Sorkin (born 19 February 1977) is an American journalist and author who has turned financial reporting into something close to a one-man media operation. He is a financial columnist for The New York Times, co-anchor of CNBC’s Squawk Box, and the founder and editor of DealBook, the Times’s financial news service – and when Wall Street produces drama, he tends to be the one who writes it down.

His bestselling Too Big to Fail became an HBO film he co-produced, and he went on to co-create the Showtime series Billions. In October 2025 he returned with 1929, a history of the greatest crash in Wall Street’s history built on hundreds of documents, many of them previously unpublished.
