Who is C. Mantis?

Eleven volumes into The Path of Ascension, C. Mantis is writing for an audience that has stayed the course. The ascension of the title is the engine of the thing: fantasy built on advancement, where the pleasure comes from watching a character climb through tiers of power established a long way back.

That kind of storytelling rewards patience and punishes dipping in. It also tells you the one thing we are prepared to claim about the author: this is someone capable of sustaining a single arc across an enormous stretch of story without letting the rules go slack.
