Possum Hollow is the sort of name that sets a register before any story arrives, and Stupid Dirty is listed underneath it. Between the two, you have a reasonably precise sense of what Erin Russell is offering: queer romance that has no interest in being polite about itself.
Our catalogue shelves the book under LGBTQ+ rather than general romance, and at just under ten hours it is full-length work rather than a novella. That combination matters more than it sounds. Longer books allow a relationship to be complicated by something more substantial than a misunderstanding, and there is room here for the surrounding world to press on it.
