Gabriel Pogrund is a journalist, born in the mid-1990s, and currently Whitehall editor at The Sunday Times – which is to say, one of the people whose job is to know what Westminster’s machinery is actually doing. He read geography at University College London, cut his teeth in student journalism as editor of The Tab London, wrote for the Jewish News and spent 2018 at The Washington Post as a Stern Fellow.
His reporting has drawn blood. In 2023 he broke the story of BBC chairman Richard Sharp’s failure to declare perceived conflicts of interest, a story that ended in Sharp’s resignation that April. With Patrick Maguire he has written two inside accounts of the Labour Party: Left Out, on the Corbyn years, published in 2020, and Get In, on Labour under Starmer, in 2025.
