Who is Kristin Hannah?

Kristin Hannah, born in 1960, is an American writer whose novels have become fixtures of the contemporary fiction shelf. Her most notable titles include Winter Garden, The Nightingale, Firefly Lane, The Great Alone and The Four Winds, and the screen has come calling: a film adaptation of The Nightingale is slated for release in early 2027.

Her most recent novel, The Women, published in 2024, is set in the United States of the 1960s during the Vietnam War – characteristic of a writer repeatedly drawn to ordinary lives caught up in history’s weather.

Home Front, the Hannah title in our catalogue, shows why she has become such a dependable name in emotional, character-led fiction. Her novels tend to set private lives against large public pressures – The Women takes on the Vietnam era; The Great Alone and The Four Winds stand among her most noted work – and that blend of intimacy and event suits narration, where a good voice can carry a listener through the hardest chapters.

For UK listeners, Hannah is reliable in the best sense: fiction that asks for your heart rather than your patience, well suited to long evenings and longer commutes.
