Who is Mel Giedroyc?

Mel Giedroyc, born in 1968, is an English comedian, television presenter and actress, and one half of one of British television’s best-loved double acts. With Sue Perkins she has co-hosted Light Lunch for Channel 4, the chat show Mel and Sue for ITV and, most famously, The Great British Bake Off for the BBC, where the pair’s warmth and wordplay became part of the format’s furniture.

Away from the partnership she has built a broadcasting career of her own, taking on commentating duties for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2015 and co-presenting the BBC’s Let It Shine in early 2017. Few presenters move between mainstream light entertainment and genuine comic performance quite so easily.
