Unevenness is the story here, and I shall not pretend otherwise. Tough Guy sits at a modest 4.1 stars with listeners, and I understand why, while The Long Game soars to 4.8 and justifies the entire journey on its own. When Reid writes her central rivalry she is close to untouchable; elsewhere the results are merely pleasant. Cherry-pick if you must, but the high points are among the best romance audiobooks I have covered.
