Sir Stephen Fry, born in 1957, is an English actor, comedian, writer and broadcaster whose CV resists summary: Blackadder, the double act with Hugh Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster, and thirteen years as the original host of QI. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for playing Oscar Wilde in Wilde, earned Tony nominations on Broadway – including for his Malvolio in Twelfth Night – and hosted the BAFTA Film Awards twelve times.
He is also a proper writer, with four novels and three autobiographies to his name, and one of the most recognisable voices in audiobooks, having narrated all seven Harry Potter novels as well as the Paddington Bear books. President of the mental health charity Mind since 2011, he was knighted in 2025 for services to mental health awareness, the environment and charity.
