About this Audiobook

What if the secret to happiness wasn’t more, but less?

Picture this: you open your closet and it doesn’t look like a fabric avalanche waiting to bury you alive. Your kitchen counters are so clear you could actually roll out cookie dough on them. And your garage… well, it no longer resembles a crime scene where old bicycles and half-broken lawn chairs go to die.

Welcome to Living Maximum With Minimalism – the thrilling, inspiring, motivational, and yes, actionable guide that teaches you how to trade clutter and chaos for clarity and joy.

Stephen Green doesn’t just tell you to throw out your stuff and call it a day (though, honestly, that’s a decent start). Instead, he hands you a toolkit of proven strategies: from the classic KonMari method to the cheekily named “Swedish Death Cleaning” (don’t worry, it’s about living better, not dying faster).

Inside, you’ll discover:

How to stop drowning in stuff and start swimming in space.
Decluttering hacks that actually stick (because shoving it all in a closet doesn’t count).
The secret link between clutter and stress – and how minimalism makes you calmer, healthier, and (surprise!) happier.
Mindset shifts that cure your “just in case” hoarding habit once and for all.
A room-by-room roadmap to simplify your kitchen, bedroom, garage, even your digital life.
How less junk = more freedom, more money, and more time for the people and passions you love.

This isn’t about living with one spoon, one shirt, and one sandal (unless that’s your thing). It’s about choosing with intention – and finally creating the space, peace, and joy you’ve been craving.

If you’re ready to breathe again, laugh at your clutter, and finally create the life you’ve been promising yourself, download this audiobook today!

The 2025 updated version is available now on Kindle, Paperback, Hardcover, and Audible.

Clara’s Verdict

The minimalism genre is crowded – there are only so many ways to tell someone to throw out their clutter – and Living Maximum with Minimalism knows this. Stephen Green’s approach is to lean into the comedy of our accumulation habits while still taking the underlying argument seriously. The result is a brisk, engaging listen that doesn’t take itself too seriously whilst actually delivering practical content. At two hours and thirty-eight minutes, it asks very little of you. Whether it gives enough back depends somewhat on how deeply you’re already embedded in the minimalism literature.

For a first encounter with these ideas, it is charming and useful. For the seasoned KonMari devotee, it covers familiar ground. Either way, Oliver Hunt’s narration makes the journey pleasant, and the tone – warm, self-deprecating, never preachy – distinguishes it from the more austere end of the genre.

About the Audiobook

Green’s central argument is the familiar one: that our relationship with possessions has become a source of stress rather than satisfaction, and that deliberately reducing what we own creates space for what we actually value – time, relationships, experiences. He is clear, however, that this is not about aesthetic asceticism or competitive simplicity. The goal is not to own as little as possible but to own only what serves a genuine purpose.

The book works through a practical framework, moving room by room through the home and addressing each space’s particular accumulation patterns. The kitchen, the bedroom, the garage – each gets specific attention, as does digital clutter, which Green treats with the same seriousness as physical stuff. The strategies referenced include the KonMari method, “Swedish Death Cleaning” (a name that sounds alarming but describes a practice of decluttering with the future in mind), and various psychological approaches to breaking the “just in case” habit.

Green is also interested in the psychological underpinnings of clutter: the link between physical disorder and mental stress is well-documented, and he draws on that research without turning the book into an academic text. The writing is light and accessible, with a vein of gentle humour running throughout that prevents the material from becoming earnest.

The 2025 updated version referenced in the synopsis is available across multiple formats; this audiobook edition runs to just under two and a half hours, which makes it an easy single-sitting listen.

The Narration

Oliver Hunt narrates with an affable, unhurried quality that suits the material well. This is a book about creating calm, and Hunt’s delivery – warm, un-rushed, with natural comic timing on the funnier passages – reinforces that intention. He avoids the trap of over-enthusiastic self-help narration, which can undermine rather than support the message; instead, he reads as someone who finds the subject genuinely interesting.

The brevity of the audiobook means there’s no fatigue to test, and Hunt maintains a consistent quality throughout the two-and-a-half-hour runtime.

What Readers Say

This title does not yet have a significant body of listener reviews from which to draw. The absence of ratings is partly a function of its relatively modest profile – this is a self-published audiobook from a small press rather than a major publisher release.

The content itself, however, aligns closely with reader responses to similar titles in the genre: minimalism books with a warm, humorous voice consistently generate positive word of mouth from listeners who find the more austere offerings too prescriptive.

Who Should Listen?

Anyone feeling genuinely overwhelmed by their possessions and looking for a low-pressure, practical starting point. Particularly useful for people who found Marie Kondo’s approach either too ritualistic or too ruthless – Green offers a more relaxed entry point without abandoning the underlying principles.

The short runtime also makes this a good choice for those who want a quick, accessible overview before committing to a longer, more detailed work. Think of it as a useful primer rather than a definitive guide. Pair it with The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up or Margareta Magnusson’s The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning for a fuller picture.
